2025 has been the year of Return to Office (often affectionately known as RTO) and I”m hearing from many with different opinions and feelings as well as many different approaches companies are taking with respect to time, procedures, etc.

For many, it’s a change and with change often comes stress and overwhelm. So what can you do to be successful?

  1. Tune out the noise. Last week I talked about the danger of too many opinions and this is definitely a topic everyone has an opinion on. Don’t get caught up in the noise and the debate.  Focus on putting elements in place that work for you and your situation.
  2. Ask yourself “how can I make this work?”. If you focus on the negative or everything you DON’T like about the situation, it will make it harder to figure out a new routine or solution that works.
  3. Identify your biggest roadblock to your new routine and focus on that. Please know that I know they may not be instant solutions. Identify your biggest roadblock or pain point and identify what your best next step is. For example, if you need to change your childcare schedule or need extra help, what is your next best step for that?  Researching providers? Asking for a new schedule where you are at? Sometimes deciding on a solution on day 1 can be overwhelming but small next steps will help you get there.
  4. Remember you have a choice. If you end up with a schedule and situation that is truly not in line with where you want to be, you can look for alternatives. Again, it doesn’t mean you have to take action tomorrow. But you can do some exploring on alternative solutions. Sometimes we feel trapped and find reasons to stay stuck because change can be overwhelming.

Ability to navigate change and new situations is a key muscle to build that makes you not only successful in your career but also helps you find balance overall. If you are struggling with overwhelm or how to navigate change, let’s chat! Set up a free call today!
